The Song in My Head This Week: "On the Radio" by Regina Spektor

(my 600th post)

The lyrics I love most here:

This is how it works
You're young until you're not
You love until you don't
You try until you can't
You laugh until you cry
You cry until you laugh
And everyone must breathe
Until their dying breath

No, this is how it works
You peer inside yourself
You take the things you like
And try to love the things you took
And then you take that love you made
And stick it into some
Someone else's heart
Pumping someone else's blood
And walking arm in arm
You hope it don't get harmed
But even if it does
You'll just do it all again

(ba dum, ba dum bum bum
ba dum, ba dum bum bum)

  1. That was beautiful, the melody and lyrics tied together with that nearly halting rhythm was simply fantastically played out. What a wonderful find!

  2. Lovely! It's her song at the end of Prince Caspian, too (The Call). I first heard it on the airplane while moving back to the States from Germany, and I will always associate her with the portal between the real world and the magical one.

  3. Congratulations on 600 posts. Maybe the lyrics say something about the world of blogging... or your world of blogging... or something...

  4. I really like the first section! In fact I really need to read it every morning as I reluctently get my body out of bed every morning. A great reminder that being old is more than a number ... and that I can finish those revisions ... and love can last forever if allowed to...
Well that's how I read it

    Thanks for sharing.
