Happiness of the Week: My New Evening Gown

Please forgive a little crowing here, because I love the dress I'm wearing in this picture. It's dark blue satin with black velvet appliques, elegant spaghetti straps, and a gorgeously deep V in the back.

But best of all? You know what I paid for it?

$6.99 on eBay. ($13.99 including shipping.)

God bless the Internet, I say.

  2. Great price! Great dress! I love that neckline.

I have a $35 dress that's made the rounds of all my best girlfriends. For some reason it fits all of us and we all look amazing in it.

Kinda like the sisterhood of the really hot red dress.

  10. Sweet.

For those of you leery of buying clothes online, Goodwill is also excellent. I don't know how much their evening dresses are, but you can get dresses for $5 and look great at work.

Secondhand is the only way to go.

Cheryl, I have to ask, since I live in the land of flip flops, where does one wear such a nice dress? Theater? Opera? Embassy Ball?

If you ever want to see exactly how badly Californians can dress, go to the theater on a rainy day. You'll see ski parkas over long dresses, Ug boots paired with velvet dresses, fur coats and jeans. Tack-eee stuff, tack-eee.
