Vacation Notations

In the last ten days, I:

went to an Indian wedding with James (here we are being cool);

climbed a mountain (Half Dome in Yosemite National Park, behind me);

hung out with my awesome family (this is me; Angela, my cousin Bruce's girlfriend; my sister Melissa and brother-in-law Joe; and said cousin Bruce on Half Dome, showing our guns. My parents and James were below);

and saw Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix in IMAX and partly in 3-D (and I liked the movie a lot -- as opposed to Transformers, which we saw to satisfy the eight-year-old boy in James, as well as the adult video-effects geek: "Optimus Prime has 64,000 moving parts!").

Hurrah for vacation!

  4. Good for you for sitting through a geeky movie for your guy. (My hub sat through "the Notebook" for me... must be love.)
    .
    Was Yosemite just wonderful? My first job out of high school was as a tour guide there.

    There is a cool story about Tisseyak (Half Dome) who got in a fight with her husband, Nanas (Washington's Column is his walking stick). She whacked him over the head with her baby sling (The Arches) Her tears are the dark stains on the front of Half Dome.

    Welcome back!

  7. Yeah, I'm going to end up being subjected to Transformers, too, in order to satisfy the kid in my husband. :) He asks, only half-joking, "What, you don't want to see giant robots throw buses at each other?!"

  11. That's no small feat to climb all the way to the top of Half Dome - the view is worth it isn't it? The climb down using those cables isn't easy either - feels like you could fall off the face of the earth!

  12. The sari is gorgeous! Is it your own? Check out the strength on display! I've not seen enough of that part of the country. And 3D IMAX just seems like so much fun...I'm glad it was good, I'm excited about this one. Huzzah for vacations!
