Today I helped count the offering at church, and we had a check from a woman with the last name "Harriet-Welsh."
I think I better keep an eye on her . . . just in case she's keeping an eye on me.

atHarriet! Ohmygosh! I remember reading that in fifth grade. The tator tot moment for me is when she is sitting on the toilet and writes in her spy book in tiny letters, "I like me." (At least that is what I remember, the quote may not be exactly right.)
ReplyDeleteIt's been a zillion years since I read “Harriet the Spy” and I still think of her every time I write in my journal.
(Note to self, buy for niece.)

Ha! One of my all-time favorite books. And to think, I almost didn't read it when it came from the book club I belonged to, because it was about an icky girl and I only wanted to read guy stuff. I think it might have been the first novel I reread immediately after finishing it.
ReplyDeleteI need to read it again.
Oh, thank you for this, Cheryl!
ReplyDeleteI love Harriet! Recently read the newest HTS book ... fun, but will never become a classic like the first one. I'm working on a kids' mystery series and I count Harriet as my all-time favorite inspiration!
I meant to pass on this link when I first read this post, but I didn't get around to acting on that impulse until now...
ReplyDelete(I know about such things because of a mention of "wicked literary tattoos" about a month ago on Librarian Avengers)
