  1. There is something about the words "digestive biscuit"... so comforting. British cookies must have a really good PR department.

Congrats on the big, shiny office! What's out the window?

  2. Your big, shiny office is lovely. But I think you need some more things on your walls. Perhaps you could start with the wrapper from McVitie's Milk Chocolate Digestive Biscuit, and then follow up with assorted chocolate wrappers. Just a thought.

  4. Oh, and alpacas are so bunny soft and funny looking. Some of them have huge fluffy 'fros. Sorta like some chickens.

  5. I believe McVities can be acquired state-side at Trader Joe's. Do you have Trader Joe's on the east coast? I'm partial to the carmel and milkchocolate topped ones . . .

    The new office is lovely.

  6. Hi Cheryl,
I'm Angela Fox from Arizona. You critiqued one of my MSS at the Arizona Conference in 2004. I think you're wonderful! (gush!)You gave me such great feedback and I just love your book passion.
I've got a blog over at live journal. Are you syndicated there yet? If not, may I try to get your blog syndicated so that I can add your to my friend's list?
I know you've been there to visit Lisa Y.
Lisa, have you syndicated Cheryl yet?
If you let Lisa decorate your office, you know that she'll fill your biscuit tins with jelly bellys.

  7. McVitie's Plain Chocolate Digestive biscuits are my favorite snack pastry in life. I love them more than MoonPies, stroopwafels, chocolate-covered graham crackers, Entenmann's mini chocolate-chip cookies . . . even Girl Scout Peanut Butter Sandwiches and Thin Mints (though it's close). I get them in England whenever I'm there, and friends traveling to/from the UK often bring me back a tube. I *can* buy them at Dean & Deluca across the street from work, but I only do so on special occasions -- otherwise the pleasure would be too common and therefore diminished.

And thanks for the kind words, Angela -- but I'm afraid I don't know anything about syndication! I have a LiveJournal outpost at http://chavelaque.livejournal.com/ if that's helpful. (I set that up just to have an LJ identity of my own -- my posts here don't show up there.)

  8. You know that you earn the kind words. I really appreciate the feedback you gave me.
Syndication is when the posts you make here get fed to LJ. Whomever friends the syndication link has you show up on their friends page.
If you give me permission, I'll see if I can get the brain cells together and follow the directions to link to you. Then anyone in the writing community there can "friend" this blog.

  10. "Stroopwafel" is the Dutch term for a caramel cookie waffle -- two small thin waffles with a layer of caramel between them, or pretty much pure yummy chewy sugar. My best friend Katy and I got addicted to them in Amsterdam two years ago. You can buy them at Starbucks, I think. For an anthropologist/paranoid take on stroopwafels, click here: http://www.unc.edu/~devries/wafel.html

  11. Cheryl, your blog is syndicated and I have you on my LJ friends list. However, I have no clue how I did that.
