I especially love the William Arthur Ward one on adjusting the sails. It seems to fit the work of a writer (and a teacher) quite well: pessimism as a writer seems fatal: we chopose to believe that a manuscript, a character, a phrase or passage, will never be "right." Optimism could be just as fatal: believing that it's going to somehow turn out wonderful--magically so. Realism helps us as writers and teachers to adjust the sails--to catch what the wind is doing and harness it to make our characters, sentences, messages whip across an ocean, into the hearts and minds of readers and students alike.

I also love the E.B. White quote. Wonderfully witty!

Peace,

LukeLuke Reynoldshttp://www.lukewreynolds.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4074861.post-37157774624468700852011-08-17T09:00:06.893-04:002011-08-17T09:00:06.893-04:00thanks a lot for the post! very interesting!thanks a lot for the post! very interesting!custom essayshttp://anyessays.com/writing/essaysnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4074861.post-68161272958654828712011-08-16T00:23:09.353-04:002011-08-16T00:23:09.353-04:00hi... nice the meet you...
